BOH to build new branch building
Will serve as West Pacific HQ
HONOLULU, Hawaii—Bank of Hawaii announced plans to construct a new branch/office building to serve as its West Pacific regional headquarters. The new building, estimated to cost in excess of $10 million, will be located at Chalan San Antonio between the Personal Finance Center and Shell Gas Station in Tamuning. This new branch and administrative office will be more centrally located, provide higher visibility and offer more customer convenience than the current facility on Soledad Avenue in Hagatna.
Bank of Hawaii is under contract to purchase the land with plans to complete due diligence within the next several months. The bank is listing its current branch building, which it has occupied for more than 30 years, for sale or lease with Today’s Realty.
Bank of Hawaii chair, president, and CEO Peter Ho, said, “We are committed to the Guam market and excited about our significant investment to bring a new ‘Branch of Tomorrow’ concept to the Guam community. The new branch design, which was introduced in 2016, has been very popular among customers in Hawaii and allows us to better meet the needs of today’s busy customers and provide the type of expert financial advice and planning people are seeking.”
Mark Tokito, Bank of Hawaii senior vice president and commercial banking manager, said, “The new branch will have many new features and customer conveniences, including our easy-deposit ATMs, Wi-Fi and private meeting rooms. The open-floor concept allows representatives to provide a more personal experience to conduct everyday banking transactions, and all 56 employees will be transferring to the new location.”
There will also be ample parking for customers and employees. The building will include energy-efficient features, such as multi-zone air-conditioning and light sensors to reduce overall energy consumption. The branch will be equipped with its own generator in case of power outages, allowing it to resume operations as quickly as possible in order to continue serving customers. Construction is anticipated to be completed in 2020, pending necessary approvals.
Bank of Hawaii, which has 69 branches and nearly 400 ATMs system-wide, has been serving the Guam market since 1961. (PR)
