Blue Haus/IT&E caging resumes; 2 others suspended
The 2015 Blue Haus/IT&E Inter-Color Basketball League will return to action tonight at the Navy Hill court, while two other hoops competitions are still suspended pending the restoration of power on Saipan.
Blue Haus/IT&E caging coordinator Sam Fernandez said only one game will be played at the Navy Hill court today with Pasion de Amor (Orange Team) of Elmer Esdrelon and Red Rice (Red Team) of Darwin Barbo colliding in the 5pm tussle. The continuation of the game between Makalaro Lang and Hard Kulangot, which played during the league opener last Aug. 1, will be rescheduled on a later date.

Fernandez added that the league will resume with its two-game format per playing day this Saturday and Sunday with matches to be set earlier due to the unavailability of power. Pairings for the Saturday and Sunday matches will be determined via draw among the five other teams competing in the inaugural league.
Meanwhile, 2015 Gualo Rai Invitational Basketball League coordinator Jojo Garon said games are still suspended until the power condition on the island normalizes.
The league also opened last Aug. 1, but the game between Jake’s Catering and Hashtag was cut short by rain. Jake’s Catering was ahead at halftime, 41-29. Six other teams are entered in the league being played at the Gualo Rai Basketball Court.
Over at the Gillette Multipurpose Gymnasium, matches in the 2nd JP World Corp. Customer Appreciation Basketball League are also on hold due to the power crisis on Saipan, which was hit by Typhoon Soudelor last Aug. 2.
Ten squads are competing in the second edition of the league with Mariana Resort, Tan Holdings, Saipan Ice & Water, Docomo Pacific, and Micronesian Brokers, Inc./KFC winning their debuts. Joeten, McDonald’s, Cape Air, Top Development, Inc., and Commonwealth Utilities Corp. are the other teams entered in the JP World caging.
