The Blue Eagle gained the top seed in the Open Division of the United Filipino Organization IT&E 2019 Basketball League after wrapping up the elimination with an 87-59 rout of Atkins Kroll Toyota last Saturday at the Gilbert C. Ada Gymnasium.

Preston Basa and Manolo Manalo teamed up in the lopsided win with the former firing a game-high 27 points and the latter adding 22. Douglas Schmidt also finished in twin digits with his 14 markers, helping the Blue Eagle round up the regular season with an 8-1 record.

The Blue Eagle built a 24-8 lead after the first half behind the four triples of Basa and was never threatened to top the 10-team field. Basa made all his points from downtown.

The Blue Eagle will lead the semis cast, which also includes Islander, Shirley’s Coffee Shop, and Eats Easy. There was a tie for the fourth and last semis ticket with RNV and the Hoopaholics matching Eats Easy’s 5-4 record. The Hoopaholics won its final game of the season last Saturday, but missed the semis, as Eats Easy prevailed in the three-way standoff.

In the Masters Division, the Final Four roster has also been filled with Blue Haus, Old Iskool, JNS, and IT&E making the grade.

The semis games will be played this Saturday.

Blue Eagle 87—P. Basa 27, Manalo 22, De Guzman 14, Schmidt 14, Esmores 4, Sienna 4, Barbo 2.
AK Toyota 59—Lilles 16, Brennan 13, Camacho 8, Coldeen 8, Joyner 5, Seekol 4, Jones 2.
