Blas gets Master Player tag
Team Mix’s Leo Blas earned the Master Player tag last week in the on-going Rocball league at the Marianas High School Gymnasium.
Blas scored a backcourt play kee during their game against GVD to get the recognition, which is given to a player who made all the scoring opportunities in Rocball. The sport gives points to an ace, xunk, jam, kee, and goal.
Blas is only the second player to make that feat this season after the Veterans’ J.R. Gechig did it late last month during their match against the Teachers.
Meanwhile, Oba Squirt threaded the needle to beat VGD in two overtimes.
Oba Squirt avoided being juiced out by Oba Squirt after winning the fourth set, 12-10. A juiced-out victory is given to a team that had the lead in regulation and also won the last set. VCD was on top after four sets, 47-33, prevailing in the first and third set, 13-2 and 13-6, but since Oba Squirt took the fourth set besides winning the second, 13-11, the match went into overtime.
In the extended period, the leading GVD needed to win only once, while Oba Squirt must beat its foe twice. Oba Squirt went on to live for another day after ruling the first overtime, 9-1, and completed the comeback with an 11-6 victory in the second extension.
