The family of the late lieutenant governor Frank Flores Blas held a private ceremony this afternoon honoring their father for his work establishing the Great Seal of Guam Park in Hagåtña.
Blas passed away on Aug. 1, 2016 and his funeral Mass was held yesterday. A private burial service was held today with his family at Pigo Catholic Cemetery in Anigua.
Following the burial, the family proceeded to the Great Seal of Guam Park at Paseo and laid a wreath at the park that was first established in 1992 by then-lieutenant governor Blas. The park was refurbished last year.
According the family: “The small ceremony we held today was our way of honoring our father who never looked for praise and was never one to boast of his accomplishments. He just quietly did his work serving the people of Guam every single day. Dad was our tower of strength and the firm foundation of our family. We will miss him dearly. We want to thank the media for being so kind to us and respecting our privacy during this difficult time. We also want to thank the people of Guam for their thoughtfulness, generosity and prayers. The outpouring of support was of great comfort to all of us during our time of grief. Dångkulo na si Yu’us ma’åse’ yan Si Yu’us en fan binendise.”
