Blanco: Inos recovering from surgery
Gov. Eloy S. Inos is recovering from a heart procedure he underwent in the U.S. mainland last Friday to follow up a similar operation last November 2014 in the Philippines.
The governor’s spokesman, Ivan Blanco, is asking for the community’s thoughts and prayers for the governor’s recovery.
“Today, Gov. Inos underwent an endoscopic medical procedure as a follow up to his past surgery in the Philippines last year. He had delayed this procedure because of Typhoon Soudelor. We ask the community to join together in prayer for a successful procedure and for a speedy recovery. We will provide updates to the public soonest they become available,” Blanco said in a statement Friday.
When pressed yesterday, Blanco said more updates should be available today. He thanked the community for its prayers.
Inos has diabetes and undergoes dialysis treatment at the Commonwealth Healthcare Corp. thrice a week.
Last January, Inos was confined to the hospital due to symptoms of pneumonia.
Inos’ health was a talking point during the 2014 general elections and subsequent runoff, with his opponents saying the governor is not being totally upfront about his health condition.
Shortly after retuning from a routine checkup in the Philippines in early November last year, Inos disclosed that his medical leave to Manila was for a follow up to a bypass heart surgery he had in 2006.
