At this stage might as well call her Blossom after Billie Pangelinan once again topped the Power Puff Girls Class of last Sunday’s Turkey Cross Race at Cowtown Race Track in Marpi.

The 12-year-old Dandan Middle School student aboard her trusty 85cc Yamaha won both heats of Marianas Racing Association’s Thanksgiving event to finish with a combined 50 points.

Coming in next to Pangelinan and completing the Power Puff cast of Bubbles and Buttercup were Nanako Celis and Shaniah Alvarez who wound up with 44 points and 40 points, respectively, to finish second and third.

Pangelinan said topping the women’s division, which was named after the Cartoon Network late ’90s hit, was just the icing on the cake.

“I had a really fun time on the track again, racing with the girls are always the best. I wasn’t focused on winning, i just wanted to have fun. It felt really nice being back on the track with my girls Shaniah Alvarez and Nanako Celis!” she said.

Pangelinan, who practices every Sunday at Cowtown, said she got into into motocross because of her father, Glen, and brother Corry.

“Motocross was my father’s thing back then too. We’d love watching the videos so we wanted to try it for ourselves,” she said.

She also admitted that MRA’s Turkey Cross was a nice distraction from news of rising COVID-19 cases on island.

“I’d like to thank Team Ericco for the support and all the help they’ve given me since I’ve joined them. I’d also wanna thank my family for supporting me during my races! I would love to dedicate the win to Team Ericco and my Gå’ga family,” she said.

In the Peewee ATV Class, Brooklynn Susulin finished first after winning both heats and earning 50 points. She was followed by Angel Ray Camacho and Nakoa Torres with 44 points and 40 points, respectively.

Leon Galarsi topped the Peewee I with 50 points with Ryan Borja coming second with 44 points.

In the Peewee II Class, Keenan Togawa set the pace with his 50 points followed by Elleayah Cruz with 44 points.

Franchesca Yumul dominated the Mini ATV and ended up with 50 points with Kassidy Camacho coming second with 44 points.

In the Mini I, Harley Susulin sped her way to the finish line with 50 points with Brendon Derocher settling for runner-up honors with 44 points.

The rest of the results of MRA’s Turkey Cross Race will be published in tomorrow’s edition of Saipan Tribune.
