RP hospital seeks better collaboration with CNMI
Physicians from the Manila-based Asian Hospital and Medical Center were on island last week to check out what they could do it improve their services to the medical community of the Commonwealth.
Led by Asian Hospital and Medical Center president Dr. Jorge M. Garcia, the group held presentations at the Hyatt Regency Saipan on Wednesday, focusing on the services they provide to patients transferred to their facility.
Asian Hospital and Medical Center is a 217-bed facility located in the southern part of Metro Manila. This state-of-the-art medical center has over 900 employees and 160 outsourced staff, all trained to provide personalized patient care, according to materials disseminated by presenters.
“The main purpose of our visit is we would like to improve our capability on how we provide medical care to patients from Saipan. We need their feedback so we can further improve our services…because we believe that there’s nothing that can replace communication,” Garcia told Saipan Tribune after his presentation.
Wednesday’s presentation was mostly before members of the Commonwealth Health Center medical staff and representatives from the Medical Referral Office.
According to CNMI Medical Referral Program director Ronald Sablan, the Asian Hospital and Medical Center is one of the medical facilities where the CNMI refers patients to and has been providing care to CNMI patients for five years now.
Although there are some unavoidable issues and concerns that sometimes arise in the process, Garcia and Sablan described them as more on the logistics of transferring patients to the center.
Besides the target collaboration with the CNMI, the visiting doctors also outlines the center’s services, especially in the field of heart surgery and cardiac care. Garcia cited the years of training and practice of the center’s physicians in U.S. hospitals as the great advantage of the Asian Hospital and Medical Center.
Sablan told Saipan Tribune that the physicians’ visit is much appreciated by his office, which counts on a strong partnership with the center.
