23 positions up for grabs at CHC
A new model that seeks to improve the Commonwealth Healthcare Corp.’s revenue collection was bared yesterday but chief executive officer Juan N. Babauta said they will have to hire more people to realize the desired results.
Under the new plan, the corporation needs to hire a revenue cycle administrator who will oversee the functions of four major sections: patient financial services, billings, collections, and medical records. This administrator will report to the CEO and have a direct link to the hospital’s chief financial officer.
To make the plan effective, 23 posts have to be filled.
Three cashiers need to be hired for the patient financial services section, which already has four employees. Two need to be added to the three existing registration employees. Two more need to be hired for the admission section, which has only two personnel.
The billings section needs one more coder to complete the six slots, Babauta said, while three billers need to be added to the four existing billers. Two claim specialists will also have to be hired.
The collection unit, which has only two accountants, needs three more, Babauta said, while two need to be hired as coordinators for benefits and labor clearances.
The medical records section already has five personnel but needs one more.
Babauta emphasized the critical role these personnel will have in the survival of the hospital.
The new revenue cycle management model was conceptualized after the termination of the contract of International Consulting Services.
Babauta described the billings and collection department as the heart and soul of the hospital. He emphasized the need to take this department “very seriously” because it is critically tied to every function, operation and survival of the hospital.
Babauta aims to make the new model functional within the year and vowed to work with the corporation board to make it happen.
