After playing second fiddle the past two years, the Paradise Island Animal Hospital-Hustlers finally got over the hump by skunking two-time defending champion Docomo Pacific-Ol’Aces, 6-0, in the Saipan Little League’s Big Division finals last Sunday at the Francisco “Tan Ko” Palacios Ballfield.

The Hustlers broke out of the gate with four runs off four hits and a couple of errors late in the very first inning.

Kevin Villagomez lead off with a single and was driven home by Brian Camacho.

Camacho scored off a base rip by Jeremy Lizama and MacGarry Scaliem belted an RBI triple and came all the way around off a wild throw.

Villagomez hit the ground running from the mound as well and dealt four scoreless innings, giving up just two hits with six strikeouts.

Ol’Aces held down the Hustlers for the next two innings, but the latter posted up two more runs in the fourth frame off a double by Camacho that helped score hit batsman Many Flores and an RBI single by MacGarrete Duenas.

Ol’Aces left a man stranded at third base in the bottom frame and though they managed to pull the brakes on the Hustlers’ offense from that point, could not posture a realistic comeback in the late innings.

The Hustlers tapped Camacho to relieve Villagomez in the fifth inning and he secured the goose egg with little nuisance from what was statistically the most high-powered offense in the league during the regular season.

The Ol’Aces were held to just two hits in the game compared to 10 strikeouts and committed six errors out on the field.

The Hustlers are also comprised of Kenta Castro, Dave Demapan, Jonakin Deleon Guerrero, McJarrel Espina, Joe Sablan, Irvin Saralu, and Tim Rabago.

They are coached by Joseph Flores, Frank Hocog, and Audie Maratita.
