The Mariana Monument Advisory Council is holding its inaugural meeting for the Marianas Trench Marine National Monument on June 5-6, from 8:30am to 4pm at the Fiesta Resort and Spa Saipan.

The public is invited to attend and observe the meeting. There will be opportunities for members of the public to provide comments to monument managers from 4pm to 5pm on both days.

The intergovernmental advisory council’s objectives for the two-day meeting are for the MMAC members to adopt procedures to govern its activities, hear operational reports from monument managers from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and NOAA National Marine Fisheries Service, and to provide initial advice and recommendations to both agencies for management planning.

Persons with disabilities needing reasonable accommodations to participate in the public meetings are invited to contact Angela Butsch at 1-888-812-5759 (voice) or 503-234-6263 (TTY) or angela_butsch@fws.gov.
