‘I want my money back’

Dear members of the Commonwealth Legislature and Lt. Gov. Inos: My name is Jose DLC Atalig, of Tinian. I would like to inform you that I will be receiving my full retirement this October. Your decision to move my contribution to Social Security will not be good for me. I want all my contribution back. How could you make a decision like that again without reaching out to every retirement members, to find out how many members will benefit from this plan and how many will not.

Haven’t you taken enough from me? You cut our hours to 64 hours at a time when CUC and gas price are rising. Hiring useless legal counsels with our tax money to defend your malfunctioning system. Stop trying to do something that will not work for everyone. Give us back our contributions and let us invest our money where we would like to invest it. I don’t want you to claim that you’re doing something to help us because you’re not. You’re just killing us more.

I would agree if I can see that you’re checking who can and cannot benefit and then make plans. I want all my contribution back, otherwise show us a report of how many retired members there are and how many active, how many retirees have dependents, how many are receiving widow benefits, how many are waiting to retired, and how is this moving to Social Security going to help every Retirement Fund member.

Since you’re just assuming again, I am demanding that you give me back my money and let me invest it somewhere else. Not having enough for Social Security is not my responsibility to pay. I believe it is every individual member’s responsibility. Because there are some members who are already members of the Social Security retirement program.

I agree with Mark Staal, don’t withdrawn HB17-226 but instead amend it, because that will create a bigger problem between the government and the active members. I wouldn’t be surprised if a mass of teachers resign to withdraw their money this June.
