Aldan is May Prince of Lanes winner

M.J. Aldan fired a tournament-high 212 in his third game en route to winning the Fiji Water Prince/Princess of the Lanes Tenpin Bowling Tournament for May last Sunday at the Saipan Bowling Center.

It was the third straight month that Aldan was hailed Prince of the Lanes after also triumphing in March and April.

The youth bowler shot pedestrian scores of 151 and 157 in his first two games before exploding for 212 in the third before capping his four-game series with a quiet 145. He finished with 665 pinfalls for a 166.25 average.

Sixty-seven pins behind Aldan and in second place was January and February winner Marion McKenzie, who came away with a 598 total built around rolls of 152, 153, 122, and 171 for a 149.5 average.

Ryan Batac and Marcel McKenzie complete the four-player Prince/Princess field last Sunday and the two finished with 541 and 373 pinfalls, respectively.

Batac rolled scores of 144, 147, 125, and 125 to norm 135.25, while the younger McKenzie had 99, 103, 103, and 68 to average 93.25.

The Top 3 of Aldan, McKenzie, and Batac took $20, $15, and $10 for all their trouble.

Last Sunday, Raphael Zapanta and Ron Cal won the King and Queen of the Lanes titles of the year with pinfall totals of 864 and 681, respectively.

It was Zapanta’s second and Cal’s first victory in the monthly competition for 2012. The former won the King of the Lanes last February.

Other monthly winner so far in the year are Robert Talavera and Yho Villavicencio (January), Diane Camacho (February and March), Raymond Zapanta (April), and Lala Taitano (April).

The King, Queen, and Prince/Princess of the Lanes is sponsored by MARPAC and organized by the Saipan Bowling Association.
