Wang takes CWGA May tourney
Xiao Lin Wang came away the winner of the CNMI Women’s Golf Association’s May Ace of the Month Tournament held last Saturday at the Laolao Bay Golf Resort’s west course.
Wang sprung out to the front of the 18-member pack with a 39 on the first nine holes and finished her round with a 41 for a solid gross card of 80.
She finished with a 72 after the handicap adjustment and earned the first bragging rights of the 2012 season as well as entrance into CWGA’s finale Ace of Aces Tournament scheduled for April 2013.
Wang’s 80 edged out runner-up Masaya Miyamoto and third place finisher Terry Guerrero by one stroke.
Miyamoto started out with a 41 and jotted down another 41 as she pulled into the clubhouse for an 82 gross total that earned her second place honors via handicap rule. Guerrero tallied a 92 raw count.
Notably, CWGA’s new member Jeon Meae grossed a 79, tying fourth place finisher Yuko Togawa for the lowest net score of the day.
However, Meae’s handicap is still being formulated. She had the lead at the turn last Saturday with a 38 and finished the backside with a 41. Togawa ended up with a 76 net total.
