The D-9ers’ Isiah Lizama is the Saipan Major League Baseball Association’s current batting leader with seven hits in 10 at bats for a dependable 0.700 batting average as of last week.

Sluggers Jesus Iguel (6-for-12/0.500) of the Ol’Aces, Angles’ John B. Reyes (5-for-10/0.500), Ol’Aces’ Juan Iguel (5-for-10/0.500), Brewers’ Manny Sablan (7-for-14/0.500), Yankees’ Chris Camacho (6-for-13/0.462), Brewers’ Mike Pangelinan (6-for-13/0.462), IP&E Fielders’ Jimmy Brel (5-for-11/0.455), Ol’Aces’ Mike Iguel (6-for-14/0.429), Yankees’ Robert Bansil (6-for-14/0.429), Brewers’ Roy Celis (6-for-14/0.429), and Fielders’ Anthony Tenorio (7-for-17/0.412) are all batting above 0.400.

Camacho leads in RBIs with nine ahead of Brewers’ Byron Kaipat (8), Yankees’ Jerome Delos Santos (6), Sablan (5), and Pangelinan (5).

Delos Santos so far is the only player to have left the yard with a home run, while Yankees’ Dave Camacho’s two triples tops the field. Six others have one under their belts.

Celis, Juan Iguel, and Tenorio share a field-high of three doubles apiece, while the Yankees duo of Ben Jones and Bansil have crossed the plate a league-leading nine times each and lead Saralu (8), Tenorio (8), Sablan (7), and Ol’Aces’ Juan Maratita (7).

Meanwhile, Brewers’ Thomas Camacho has allowed just one earned run through 9 1/3 innings for a 0.96 Earned Run Average.

Yankees’ southpaw phenom Joshua Jones (1.00) and Fielders’ Brandon Santos (1.00) are both playing second fiddle behind Camacho with Brewers’ Vince Cepeda (1.42), Ol’Aces’ Benwachi Taisacan (2.25), and Angels’ Franco Flores (2.50) well within range as the first round of games come to a close at the Francisco “Tan Ko” Palacios Ballfield.

Notably, Jones’ 41 strikeouts through 18 innings tops the category ahead of Fielders’ Elton Santos (33) and Cepeda (23).
