Hofschneider to leave SHEFA
Saipan Higher Education Financial Assistance administrator Henry Hofschneider will soon leave his post to work full time at the Saipan Mayor’s Office.
Hofschneider, who is also a special adviser to Mayor Donald G. Flores, said that Flores has asked him to be at the Mayor’s Office full time.
However, the Mayor’s Office will continue to help run the SHEFA program by providing staff support, he added.
According to Hofschneider, Flores has been asking him to be at the Mayor’s Office for eight or nine months now.
“Now I’m transitioning out of SHEFA to the Mayor’s Office. But if the board needs my help, I’ll still be able to help them,” he told Saipan Tribune.
Hofschneider disclosed that the only reason why he couldn’t leave SHEFA in the past was the lack of a full-time staff.
With Doreen Cruz able to manage the office on her own, Hofschneider said he is now assured that SHEFA will be okay once he leaves.
Hofscneider said it will now be up to the SHEFA board if they plan to hire a new administrator. The board is composed of chair Joe Mafnas, vice chair Josephine Sablan, and members Ursula Aldan, Vina Saures, and Juan Tenorio.
He also revealed plans to transfer the SHEFA office next to the new Mayor’s Office. According to Hofschneider, there is a 1,000-square-foot office space for rent next to the Mayor’s Office on the second floor of Ladera Center along Beach Road.
Hofschneider noted that the relocation would facilitate staff support between SHEFA and the Mayor’s Office.
