11 teams to take part in U17 MBT
A total of 11 teams—seven boys and four girls teams—will see action in the 17-and-under Micronesian Basketball Tournament set to start on May 20 at the Gilbert C. Ada and Marianas High School gymnasiums.
The organizing Basketball Association of the Northern Mariana Islands said the competition will kick off with a soft opening on May 20 with a parade of all participating teams.
BANMI said Guam will be sending one team each for the boys and girls division, while Palau will only have one team for the boys division.
Tinian will be sending one team each for the boys and girls division, while host Saipan will be fielding a total of four teams for the boys and two teams for the girls division.
Boys division games will start on May 21 with the CNMI 1 taking on Tinian in the 10am opener. It will be followed by the game between Guam and CNMI 2 at 12pm.
The 2pm game will then pit Palau against Saipan 1 followed by Saipan 2 versus Guam at 4pm. The final two games of Day 1 will have CNMI 1 taking on Palau beginning 6pm and Saipan 1 against CNMI 2 starting 8pm.
The girls will also see action starting on May 21 with CNMI 1 squaring off against CNMI 2 in the 4:30pm opener. It will be followed by the 6:30pm game between Tinian and Guam.
The boys division will play at the Gilbert C. Ada Gymnasium with the Marianas High School Gymnasium hosting the girls.
