The Marianas Interscholastic Sports Organization’s high school boys soccer season resulted in a foursome of forfeits last week

The season, however, is expected to resume as scheduled today at 4:30pm with the Marianas High School Dolphins (4-3 win-loss record) taking on Northern Marianas Academy-Marianas Baptist Academy (0-5-0 win-loss-draw) at the Hopwood Middle School Field in Chalan Piao.

Last Monday, MHS was awarded the win over a shorthanded SIS squad, while SSHS received the same favor over an understaffed NMA-MBA crew.

Then on Friday, KHS was gifted a forfeit victory over a six-man NMA-MBA roster, while the SSHS Manta Rays had already conceded the second match to MHS in advance because many of its players were also members of the Manta Ray Band, which was participating in a fundraiser event that afternoon.

Although NMA-MBA has forfeited its last two matches, the season is expected to continue as scheduled today with NMA-MBA facing a Dolphins team that lost its most recent official contest to the Kagman High School Ayuyus (3-3-1), 1-4, back on April 27.

Then the Saipan International School Geckos (3-2-0) will challenge the Ayuyus at 4:30pm tomorrow, while NMA/MBA is set to square off against SIS at 4:30pm on Thursday; both games will also be held on Hopwood Field.

Then on Friday the top ranked and defending champion SSHS Manta Rays (5-1-1) collide with MHS at 4:30pm on Friday at the Oleai Sports Complex and the final game of the season takes place next Monday at 4:30pm between SIS and SSHS on Hopwood Field.

MISO’s double-elimination postseason tournament is scheduled for May 18 and May 19 at the Oleai Sports Complex.

Tinian High School may appear this year as the automatic third seed in the competition, however MISO organizers are still awaiting confirmation.
