The Marianas Visitors Authority’s flagship event, the Taste of the Marianas International Food Festival and Beer Garden, will kick off tonight at the American Memorial Park.

The event will be held every Saturday of the month, coinciding with the celebration of Tourism Month in the Commonwealth.

The perennial theme, “Tourism is Everybody’s Business,” emphasizes the critical role of each entity in the CNMI in the efforts to develop and enhance the islands’ main industry.

Tonight’s event will start off with the ribbon cutting ceremony for the monthlong celebration, followed by performances of cultural dancers and other performing groups.

Taste of the Marianas will feature 15 food concessionaires: Fiesta Resort & Spa, Hafadai Beach Hotel, Hyatt Regency, Pacific Islands Club, Canton Restaurant, Furusato Restaurant, Sierra Pearl Shakes, Capricciosa/Tony Roma’s, D’Elegance Restaurant, Herman’s Modern Bakery, Hula Girl/3’s, Thai House Restaurant, Poon’s Restaurant, Tropical Chill, and Coral Ocean Point.

There will also be three Beer Garden vendors: Pacific Trading Co., Marianas Pacific Distributors Inc., and the Northern Marianas Bartender Association.

MVA managing director Perry Tenorio said Thursday that the Taste of the Marianas will also feature outreach presentations, exciting competitions for the public, and on-the street interviews to get the word out that tourism is everybody’s business.

Besides the Taste of the Marianas, other activities have been lined up for the Tourism Month, some of which are coordinated with partners such as the Korean Association and the Japan Saipan Travel Association.
