Crime Stoppers slow-pitch tourney set May 18-20
The NMI Crime Stoppers will host the 2012 Crime Stoppers Slow-Pitch Softball Tournament over the May 18-20 weekend at the Capital Hill Ballfield.
Organizers are inviting the public to attend and to cheer on their favorite team.
Each year, the tournament results in a great deal of fun for participants and fans and generates loads of excitement.
Vinnie Sablan, the coordinator of the tournament, said “Each year I have lots of players asking to be included on a team. The community loves this tournament!”
Each team is sponsored by a local business who has generously donated to the Crime Stoppers Program in 2012.
Every player gets a team T-shirt and a weekend of exercise and fun. MarPac will return to defend their title as last year’s champion.
Other teams include Duty Free Shopping, Pacific Islands Club, I Love Saipan store, Bridge Capital, Shell/IP&E, AON Insurance, Delta Airlines, IT&E, Docomo Pacific, Megabyte/Marianas Legal Strategy Group, Bank of Guam, and Pacific Amusement.
Crime Stoppers is appreciative of the support of these local businesses. There are many unsolved crimes in the CNMI, including the disappearance last year of the Luhk sisters, the recent brutal murder of Emie Romero, and the highly publicized rape in Garapan.
These criminals remain free to this day, and Crime Stoppers is committed to continuing to work with law enforcement to bring all criminals to justice. One solid tip from the community to the Crime Stoppers hotline may be enough to allow DPS to solve these horrific crimes. This tournament allows the local program to function for an entire year with its entirely volunteer board. (Saipan Tribune)
