Mirano allegedly admits to ‘ice’ use while out on bail
Earl Eric Cruz Mirano, a 32-year-old man arrested Tuesday on charges of using a stolen credit card, allegedly admitted to a U.S. Probation Officer that he used methamphetamine or “ice” while out on bail in a federal criminal case.
U.S. Probation Officer Gregory F. Arriola notified the U.S. District Court yesterday about Mirano’s violation of his pretrial release conditions.
Arriola stated in his report that, on Oct. 16, 2012, Mirano reported to the U.S. Probation Office and submitted to a substance abuse test. Arriola said that Mirano admitted in writing to using methamphetamine or “ice” on April 13, 2012.
The probation officer said that Mirano was admonished about his drug use and advised that further use could result in court sanctions.
Arriola said Mirano was then referred for substance abuse treatment.
Mirano, together with Mohammad Jahangir Miah, and Cecilia Blas, are charged with conspiracy to commit bank fraud.
Mirano was arraigned on April 12. He pleaded not guilty and was granted pretrial release with conditions. His jury trial will be on June 11, 2012.
On Tuesday, police arrested Mirano on charges of misuse of a credit card and theft by deception.
