Volunteers sought for Makaka Beach cleanup
The Division of Environmental Quality’s cleanup brigade will be picking up trash at Makaka Beach, Saipan this Saturday, March 5, 2012, at 8am. If you would like to volunteer your time to clean and beautify our island, meet the DEQ representatives on Saturday at the beach entrance behind Joeten Hafadai in Garapan.
Volunteers will split into groups and clean until 10am and break for drinks and then continue, if needed.
This month, outstanding brigade volunteers who participated in at least 10 monthly cleanups will receive a brigade cap and those who participated in at least three cleanups will receive a green brigade t-shirt.
Last month, the islandwide cleanup drew over 500 volunteers from McDonalds, SSHS Youth Ambassadors Club, Kagman Junior High, Tan Holdings, D&Q, CTSI, POI, L&T, Century Insurance, Century Travel, Saipan Tribune, Saipan World Resort, Brabu Pharmacy, PDM Promoters, Marianas and Unity Lions Club, CUC, DPW, CRM, Executive Office, Commerce, DPH/BEH, DPL and others. Some 6,800 lbs of trash was removed from roadsides and beaches and properly disposed off. The DEQ is looking forward to a repeat success this Saturday.
