[B]Chamber meeting tomorrow[/B]

The Saipan Chamber of Commerce will host its May general membership meeting tomorrow, May 2, 2012, at the Hyatt Regency Saipan Sandcastle Ballroom. Luncheon begins at 11:30am, and the meeting will begin at 12pm. Luncheon fees are $20 for SCC members, $30 for guests and the public.

This month’s agenda includes a presentation by the Citizens for Change of Article 12 and their efforts to place an initiative to either repeal, or retain, Article 12 of the CNMI Constitution on this November’s ballot.

A short presentation by the CNMI Water Task Force’s Kay Delafield will be offered as well. (SCC)

[B]Memorial Day preparations[/B]

The CNMI is celebrating Memorial Day on Monday, May 28, 2012, 9am at the CNMI Veterans Cemetery. The Veterans Affairs Director and its Committee will be paying tribute to our fallen heroes and is inviting the immediate families to join the community in paying tribute to them. The immediate family is being asked to call the Veterans Affairs office for details at 664-2650/2659 or 287-5351. (PR)

[B]SSHS report cards out Thursday[/B]

Term 4 mid-progress report is scheduled to be picked up on Thursday, May 3, from 3pm to 6pm. Teachers will be in their classrooms for parents and legal guardians visit. All students will be released at 1:05pm. (PR)

[B]Air Force, Navy training on FDM, Warning Area 517[/B]

The U.S. Air Force will conduct training on the island of Farallon de Medinilla on the following dates and times:

May 1 from 9am to 6am

May 2-3 from 8am to 5am

May 4 from 9am to 7pm.

The Navy will conduct training at Warning Area 517 on May 2-3 from 8am to 5pm.

The public—especially fishermen, commercial pilots and marine tour operators—are advised to stay clear from the area during the times and dates indicated.

The general location of the training on the island of Farallon de Medinilla training area will be on a 10 nautical mile radius on all quadrants.

W-517 is an irregular shaped polygon comprising of 14,000 nautical square miles of airspace that begins south of Guam and extends south-southwest in international waters. This will affect fishing in the vicinity of Santa Rosa Reef and Galvez Bank. (PR)

[B]Judiciary schedule for May[/B]

During May 2012 the courthouses on all three islands will be open with full operations except as noted below.

Saipan:

-Limited operation on Friday, May 4, 2012

-Closed on Monday, May 28, for Memorial Day

On days of limited operations, only essential services of the Office of the Clerk of Court, the Office of Adult Probation Services, the Family Court Division, the Marshal Service Division, and Judicial Chambers will be provided. Courts will address certain docket requirements, emergency and related prescheduled matters. The Administrative Services Unit (cashier), Information Systems Unit, Building & Maintenance Unit, Office of the Commonwealth Recorder, Law Revision Commission, and Judiciary Administrative Office will be closed.
Tinian: Closed on May 28 for Memorial Day
The CNMI Judicial Council will meet again on May 9, 2012. The hours of operation for June will be publicized after the meeting on the CNMI Judiciary website, http://www.justice.gov.mp/.
