Cepeda, Taitano ahead in Tag Team 8-Ball
Patz’s Pat Cepeda and Pat Taitano broke a three-way tie and surged to the top of the 19th Hole Bar Islander Tag Team 8-Ball Tournament in its fifth week.
They took a 6-2 match last April 21 from co-leaders Taylor Watanabe and John Mongami’s Elaus team, while Oneshot’s Ron Chisato and Ed Suzuki took a 6-0 loss from wildcard YNOT’s Norman Tenorio and Rick Rengiil.
Patz now leads with 26 points followed by Elaus with 22 and Oneshot with 20. Tasi’s Annie Tesiro and Ken Phillips have 15, with YNOT tied with IDC’s Quinton Ngirarois and Welson Apaisang at 14. Watever’s Rose Phillips and Walter Sutherland have 8 points and Shotlokker’s Rodney Aldan and William Hart have 7.
YNOT has two make-up games to catch or even pass Patz. The teams face off Sunday night. Watever and Shotlokker also have a chance to move up in the standings with a make-up game apiece.
Last April 22, Tasi topped Shotlokker 6-1, while IDC downed Watever 4-2.
The teams play each other once with three best-of-three games series, every Saturday and Sunday, starting at 7:30pm. Each team member plays a singles match followed by a double pairing, with each win scored as one point. Cash prizes go to the Top 3 finishers, plus trophies for first to fifth place winner.
