Thank you
Please allow us to recognize great things by great folks in our community. A big shoutout and kudos to Jackson Kaipat Davis and Jerome Savea for their hard work and dedication in mounting the “Stop” traffic signs at one of the busiest intersections in Chalan Kanoa (Texas Road crossover from District 1 & District 2).
In the last two weeks, there have been two vehicular accidents at this particular intersection. The first incident involved a police sport utility vehicle driven by a policewoman and the other vehicle was driven by a male Chinese taxi driver. The second incident involved an elderly local woman and an Asia woman that caused the elderly woman’s car to spin 180 degrees from her intended travel route. Luckily, the drivers and passengers in both incidents left the scene of the accident with no body injury.
However, in the last several years the community has seen numerous vehicular accidents at this particular intersection because the designated traffic signs were not in place. This intersection receives the traffic flow from the Tun Joaquin Doi Road heading in either direction east or westbound. Texas road, which is the crossover street, receives traffic from either north or southbound.
Also, a big shoutout to Tom Camacho from DPW for his immediate response and leadership in following through with the request to ensure the safety of our community. Un dangkulu na Si Yu’us Ma’ase!
