What about Fund members who have not retired yet?

Everyone on Capital Hill is discussing and arguing how to save the Retirement Fund for the retirees but what about the non-retirees? What about those who have not retired yet? We want to know what is going on with our contributions. Based on the news, a retired member sued the funds to get his disability benefits and it was in that lawsuit that they found out that he has been contributing to Class II, that the court awarded him Class II benefit. Now some of us are wondering if we are really Class I or Class II. Not only that, when they did the calculation, no explanation was given to prove what class we are in. They only showed how much we contributed every payday, but not what percent of our checks has been taken out.

The other scary part is no one is telling us what is really going on. I mean they only say the Fund is dying. Okay, when you say dying, what do you mean by this? Dying, because you’re using the non-retirees contributions to pay the retirees, or dying because you’re running out of money to pay the retirees?

A task force is being formed to save the Fund. The only question is, how many of those task force members are non-retired? Based on what I’ve heard, they are all retired members. I mean Class II. Majority of those not retired yet are Class I members.

Only one lawmaker is addressing the Class I members’ concerns and that is Eli Cabrera. Do you know that Class I members too want to form their own task force? Because majority of Class I members are very worried about what’s going on with their contribution. And they want to know if their money is still being saved or being spent little by little and they don’t know.

Our leaders are so concerned about the retirees that they are not concerned about those whose hours have been cut and whose lives are now worse than those retirees who get their full paychecks.

Believe me, those retirees are better off looking for a job than waiting for miracles, because if you calculate their contributions and what they are receiving now, a lot of them have used up their contributions already. And if the time is up, the court will tell you to pay. If I’m wrong, tell us so that we can have hope in trusting you to save our living investment.
