Sweep for MPU Silver; Paire routs foe

MP United Silver swept the first round of the boys U15 division of the 2012 NMIFA Youth Spring League after yet another lopsided victory last Saturday’s game at the Oleai Sports Complex Field.

MPU Silver clobbered Tan Holdings FC, 14-0, in the third game in Week 5 of the U15 league for a perfect 5-0-0 win-draw-loss record and the lead in the six-team field. Tan Holdings absorbed its third loss with only a win and one draw to show in the first round of the double-round robin competition

Jehn Joyner led MPU Silver’s demolition of Tan Holdings as he logged four goals. Brian Lee and Dakota Hall chipped in two apiece, and John Taisacan, Greg Sablan, and Ryota Ito contributed one each. Joyner had back-to-back goals in the first half, while Hall and Bryan had one each before Joyner scored anew for MPU Silver’s 5-0 halftime lead.

Joyner picked up where he left off, making MPU Silver’s first goal in the second half, while, Lee, Sablan, Taisacan, Hall, and Ito lit up the scoreboard, too in the final 45 minutes of the match.

[B]Matansa 7, Shirley’s FC 1[/B]

Also cruising to an easy win was Matansa, who downed Shirley’s in the first game last week.

Sean Perez duplicated Joyner’s four goals against Shirley’s, scoring in the 19th, 27th, 43rd, and 50th minute. Ryu Tanzawa drew first blood for Matansa with his goal three minutes into the game. Perez had two goals in the first half, while Jeong Wook Hwang added one for their 4-0 halftime lead.

Perez was unstoppable in the second half, scoring back-to-back goals in a span of seven minutes, while Tanzawa hit another one in the 60-minute mark.

Shirley’s lone goal came from Vincent Manacop and the team had only a win against four losses after the first round. Matansa finished the first round with a better 3-1-1 record for third place.

[B]Paire 6, MPU Blue 1[/B]

Paire ended up in second place after the first round, following a 6-0 triumph over MPU Blue.

Paire holds a 4-0-1 card, while MPU Blue has yet to break into the win column.

Hunter Jewell had a hat-trick for Paire, while Won Jun Kim, Billy Hinson, and Joel Fruit logged one goal each. Jewell found the back of the net early, making his first goal in the eighth minute, while Kim also scored 12 minutes later for Paire’s 2-0 advantage at the break.

Hinson made it a 3-0 lead right into the first minute of the second half and his goal sparked a Paire run in seven minutes, as Jewell got his second goal in the 48th minute and Fruit recorded his first five minutes later. Jewell completed the rout with his third goal in the 75th minute.

Meanwhile, the girls U15 games at the Hopwood Junior High School both resulted in draws.

Paire and Matansa played in the second match at the Hopwood pitch and had a scoreless draw, while MP United and Shirley’s FC were also in a deadlock in the first game, 1-1.

Negahr Rastguiy scored for MP United in the first half, while Diana Maniacop made the equalizer for Shirley’s in the second half.

[B]BOYS U18

Paire 10, Matansa 0[/B]

In the first game in the boys U18 league, Paire crushed Matansa, 11-0.

Juanito Tiamzon anchored Paire’s blowout win with his three goals, while Thomas Lee contributed two, and brothers Colin and Mason Fruit, Hae Sung Lee, Don Cabrera, and Zhi Lin fired one apiece.

Hae Lee put Paire in the scoreboard with his goal in the fifth minute, while Tiamzon, Colin Fruit, and Cabrera followed suit for their 4-0 lead at halftime. Lin and mason Fruit then gave Paire its first two goals in the second half before Thomas Lee and Tiamzon closed out the game with two goals each.

Paire gained its third win in five games, while Matansa is still winless after five matches.

[B]MP United 3, Tan Holdings 2[/B]

In the other U18 match, MP United edged Tan Holdings.

Evert Van Der Maas made the game-winning shot, as he scored his first and only goal in the 62nd minute. MP United’s two other goals came from Paul Yoon and Joyner, while Tan Holdings drew twin goals from Tanapon Unsa.

Yoon put MP United in the lead with his goal in the 10th minute, but Unsa answered three minutes later to force a deadlock. Unsa helped Tan Holdings seize the lead with another goal in the 28th minute, but the game ended in a tie at the break after Joyner scored in the 32nd minute.

Both teams struggled in the second half before Maas found a lapse on Tan Holding’s defense and nailed one goal with still 28 minutes left in the match. MP United is still perfect in five games, while Tan Holdings owns a 1-1-3 slate.
