MISO kicks off soccer, fast-pitch softball leagues
The Marianas Interscholastic Sports Organization spring season started this week with last Monday’s boys soccer game between the Marianas High School’s Dolphins and the Ayuyus of Kagman High School at the Hopwood Junior High School Field.
The season continues at the Hopwood pitch today at 3:45pm with KHS taking on the two-time champions Manta Rays of Saipan Southern High School. Results of both matches will be released later this week. There will be no games this Friday, however starting next week two games will be played at Hopwood on Mondays and Tuesday starting at 3:45pm and 5:10pm, while Friday’s matches will be played at the Oleai Sports Complex Field.
For the MISO girls fast-pitch softball, the season kicks off at 4pm tomorrow at the Miguel “Tan Ge” Basa Pangelinan Ballfield with the Lady Manta Rays facing the defending champions KHS Lady Ayuyus.
The Mount Carmel School Lady Knights will also be suiting up in the season, which is formatted as a double-round robin.
[B]Outrigger canoe set for April 14[/B]MISO shoots for an April 14 opening of its outrigger canoe season. Races start at 9am at the Kilili Beach Park across the Oleai Sports Complex. Kagman, Mt. Carmel, MHS, and Southern are all expected to enter teams this season. The Rays swept the field last year.
Opening day events include a 500-meter sprint and a 1000-meter race and for the first time, a junior division will be offered this year both in the girls and boys fields.
