The CNMI Women’s Association culminated its Women’s Month celebration with the 2nd Annual Family Fair held at the Chamolinian Utt in Garapan last March 31.

The whole-day event brought together some members of the non-profit organization along with other groups, government agencies, and businesses that set up educational and merchandise booths in support of the event.

Among them were the Public Health Immunization Program, Northern Marianas College, Northern Marianas Coalition Against Domestic & Sexual Violence, Division of Youth Services, Office of Vocational Rehabilitation, and Karidat Social Services.

At the forefront of Saturday’s event, aimed at empowering women and fostering healthy and happy families, were CWA officers Sen. Jovita Taimanao (Ind-Rota), interim president; Vice Speaker Felicidad Ogumoro (Cov-Saipan), interim vice president; and Betsy Cruz, secretary.

Local performer and CWA’s Maggie Naputi and her daughter Valerie also provided live performances to entertain the crowd.

The fair was also an opportunity for CWA to take on at least six new members, including NMC president Sharon Hart, to allow the group to vote on its new set of officers this month.

Taimanao recognized on behalf of CWA the presence and support of male members of the crowd, including her husband, Rick Taimanao, who flew in Saturday morning for the event, family judge Perry Inos, and Rep. Edmund Villagomez (Cov-Saipan).

“This is a day we need to remember for the women in the community and their families,” added Taimanao.
