A woman arrested by U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration agents for allegedly selling methamphetamine or “ice” near a school on Saipan pleaded guilty in federal court yesterday.

Yue Xin Tang pleaded guilty to count 2 of the indictment charging her with distribution of “ice” within 1,000 feet near a public school.

She will be sentenced on July 6, 2012.

Tang, who appeared with court-appointed counsel Loren Sutton, was later remanded into the custody of the U.S. Marshal.

U.S. District Court for the NMI Chief Judge Ramona V. Manglona is presiding over the case.

According to DEA special agent Jacqueline R. Gordon, they were able to buy $150 and $700 worth of “ice” from Tang using a confidential source on Oct. 27, 2011, and Nov. 9, 2011.

Gordon stated in her affidavit that, on Oct. 26, 2011, she and another DEA special agent, along with a Department of Public Safety Task Force officer, interviewed a DPS confidential source about Tang’s “ice” distribution activities in Garapan.

The following day, using the confidential source, Gordon said they were able to buy $150 worth of “ice” from Tang at a parking lot behind Bank of Guam.

Gordon said that, on Nov. 9, 2011, they managed to buy $700 worth of “ice” from her using the same confidential source at the parking lot of 99 Cents Store.

Tang was arrested last month after the U.S. government filed a complaint charging Tang with two counts of distribution of a controlled substance. An indictment was subsequently filed against the defendant over the same allegations.
