Babauta wins Sta. Remedios Church golf tourney

Lorraine Babauta topped 24 other golfers to win the Sta. Remedios Church’s 2012 fundraiser golf tournament held last Saturday at the Marianas Country Club.
Babauta posted a 44 on the front nine holes and finished strong after the turn with a 41 on the back for a solid gross tally of 85 that adjusted into a net field low 68.
Four strokes back in second place came Larry Hocog who scratched a 54 on the front side and then a 47 on the back nine for a gross total of 101 that worked into a 72 net count.
Ed Manibusan settled for third place, despite turning in the lowest gross score of the day.
Manibusan started out his round with a 39 on the first nine holes and pulled into the clubhouse with a 38 for an impressive raw score of 77, but his miniscule 2.4 handicap came up short on Saturday.
The Top 3 place finishers received trophies and modest cash prizes.
Proceeds from the event will go toward renovations and maintenance repairs to the Sta. Remedios Church located in Tanapag.
Being the weekend’s lone organized golf event, the Sister Remedios Parish Pastoral Council was hoping for a larger turnout. However, the crowd was likely hampered by the American Red Cross Walkathon and the XTERRA Saipan Championship, which were also held last Saturday.
