Let’s not be greedy

I understand some of the sentiments surrounding Article 12. Some oppose its repeal and some want it repealed. I want Article 12 repealed. Why? First we should look at ourselves in the mirror and ask: Who are we? Where did we come from and, is this land ours forever or should we share it with others? Many of us are no different from the Europeans who entered the Americas. Atalig, Mendiola, Blanco, Calvo, Camacho, Manglona, Dela Cruz, Torres, Pangelinan, Cabrerra and many other last names. Where did you come from? I found out just recently that I came from the Philippines, perhaps with Spanish blood and Filipino blood. We call ourselves Chamorro. How about the Carolinians? Where did they come from? You should get my point by now. Indigenous of the CNMI. Let’s not be greedy, share this earth with our brothers and sisters of this earth. Let’s welcome them and celebrate humanity instead of greed. I do not endorse the “mind, mind, mind” attitude.
