Decena retires from CNMI Judiciary
CNMI Superior Court deputy clerk Theodora S. Decena was recently honored on the day of her retirement for her dedication and hard work.
Decena, whose career with the CNMI Judiciary spanned over 19 years, was presented with a special plaque commemorating her service by Supreme Court Justice John Manglona, Superior Court Presiding Judge Robert Naraja, judges Kenneth Govendo, Joseph Camacho, and Perry Inos, former presiding judge Edward Manibusan, Clerk of the Superior Court Bernie Sablan, and former Clerk of Court Jovie Flores.
Also present at the luncheon ceremony was a large contingent of the Judiciary’s staff who expressed their sincere appreciation for Decena’s friendly and helpful spirit which all would miss.
Decena began with the judiciary in February 1993 as a deputy clerk 1 in the Superior Court’s Clerk of Court’s office. She worked closely with then Judge John Manglona, Judge Virginia Onerheim, and Judge David Wiseman at a time when Judge Manibusan was the presiding judge.
She had broad involvement with the affairs of the court that included small claims, probate, traffic and civil cases. In January of 2005, Decena ascended to Deputy Clerk 3, a position that saw her become responsible for jury and appeals coordination and assume a supervisorial role.
Of Dora, as she is affectionately known at the court, Presiding Judge Naraja said, “she is a professional in every respect who knows her job and performs at the highest level to the benefit of justice and the citizens of the CNMI.”
Born and raised on Saipan, Decena has four children and six grandchildren and plans a retirement with her husband, Rolando Decena, in the Philippines.
