NMHC looking for next corporate director
The Northern Marianas Housing Corp. will soon issue a job vacancy announcement for a corporate director.
Board chair Marcie Tomokane said Friday that corporation staff is putting together the documents before making the announcement “probably and maybe in the next 30 days.”
The corporate director position has been vacant since Joshua Sasamoto resigned on March 10.
Tomokane said they appointed mortgage and credit division manager Jesse Palacios as acting corporate director based on Sasamoto’s recommendation. She said Sasamoto will be assisting Palacios during the transition process.
“I’m just happy that Josh has confidence in me that I could take over once he’s gone,” said Palacios. “He’s done a lot of good things for this agency and whoever is the next corporate director just has to carry on the legacy, the good deeds, and all those other things that he’s done here.”
Palacios noted, though, that he has yet to see the official notice designating him as acting corporate director.
In his acting capacity, Palacios wants to ensure that the corporation is in compliance with all reporting requirements of the various programs they administer for the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.
Palacios also said that he wants to see their next audited financial statements “in better shape” compared to previous years.
“We want to make sure that our audited financials are cleaner this time, with not much findings,” he added.
Asked if he will apply for corporate director once the position is announced, Palacios replied, “It’s an opportunity to move up and I’m considering it. Who knows? I might just turn in an application.”
