Woman allegedly runs over husband with car
A 42-year-old man sustained serious injuries after his common-law wife allegedly chased and ran him over with a car Saturday morning in Garapan.
The victim was taken to the Commonwealth Health Center for observation. He sustained a fractured rib, lacerations in his ankle and heel, and multiple abrasions and bruises in his torso and legs.
Police officer Jason Tarkong said that, according to a CHC doctor, the laceration in the victim’s left ankle required 13 stitches, while the laceration on his left heel required three stitches.
The 34-year-old suspect was arrested for assault with a dangerous weapon, fleeing the scene of an accident, reckless driving, violation of a restraining order, and disturbing the peace.
Tarkong said that police officers responded on Saturday at 6:14am to a reported hit-and-run at the corner of Adilanto Loop and Gobietno Drive in Upper Miha, Garapan
Tarkong said the police investigation showed that the woman had chased her common-law husband aboard a car and ran him over with it. She then allegedly fled the scene.
Tarkong said that witnesses called the police and the woman was arrested 30 minutes later at a family residence in Lower Navy Hill.
Medics brought the victim to the hospital.
Tarkong said that prior to the incident, the couple had an argument, prompting the victim to grab his clothes and leave the house. As the victim was walking away, his wife chased him with the car and hit him with the vehicle.
