UOG travel course to China, Tibet, Mongolia

University of Guam philosophy professor Kim Skoog announces a UOG Travel Course to China, Tibet and Mongolia. Visit elegant palaces and remote monasteries, view artistic masterpieces and natural wonders, walk on top of the Great Wall of China, visit the Forbidden City, view the amazing terra cotta soldiers of X’ian, tour through the Potala and Summer Palaces of the Dalai Lama, and drive to the Mt. Everest Base Camp.

Participants will travel overland across Tibet (the highest roadway in the world) and then depart Tibet aboard the Qinghai Tibet Train, one of mankind’s greatest technical wonders of the modern world. Students also will visit Genghis Khan’s Mongolia, riding horseback across its grasslands, cheering horse races and wrestling matches, and sleeping in their traditional ger (yurt) dwellings.

Travel begins June 8 and ends June 29, for a total of 22 days of travel. Individuals can take this as a UOG summer school course (PI 486/G undergraduate or graduate) or just join us for summer fun and adventure. Complete cost estimate: $3,000 +/- 10 percent plus tuition if taken for credit. Organization meetings are set for Wednesdays in March 14 and 28 at 3:30pm in the first floor conference in the Humanities and Social Sciences building room (Room 120). For more information, call Dr. Kim Skoog at 735-2800/2811 (socrates@guam.net). (PR)
