United Filipino Organization officers and members presented certificates of appreciation to Docomo Pacific officials for the company’s support in the first ever Pusong Pinoy event on Feb. 12.

UFO president Bong Malasarte led the presentation to Docomo Pacific general manager for Saipan operations James Nelson and staffer Lei Hicaro at their office in Gualo Rai on Wednesday.

“I wanted to personally hand this to you so I can thank you on behalf of the entire membership of UFO for helping us make Pusong Pinoy a success,” Malasarte told Nelson.

Docomo Pacific sponsored UFO’s first ever Valentine celebration held at the Civic Center grounds in Susupe and highlighted by the Ms. Pusong Pinoy beauty pageant won by 15-year-old Saipan Southern High School lass Maria Angelica Malasarte.

Nelson, who was in the Philippines during the event, said Docomo Pacific is delighted to show their support to the umbrella organization of some 30 Filipino groups in the Commonwealth.

“I’ve been with Docomo for several years and I was fortunate enough to be introduced to Bong about a year ago and I must say that his leadership is commendable because they’re organized,” he said.

Nelson said they are “very glad” to contribute to the UFO and their many and “quality” projects and activities that the community enjoys each year.

“I’m really proud of the fact that we’re doing quality projects together and supporting UFO is something I intend to do as we keep moving forward,” he told Saipan Tribune.

Malasarte, for his part, said their group is excited to continue working with Docomo Pacific for their upcoming events, including the inter-organizational basketball league.

“We are extremely grateful to Docomo Pacific for sponsoring Pusong Pinoy,” he said. “They were instrumental in the success of our Valentine event and we, too, look forward to the continued partnership between UFO and Docomo Pacific.”
