Shutout victories in youth league opening
Shutout wins were the theme in the opening week of the U15 and U18 games in the 2012 NMIFA Youth Spring League
Five of the seven matches played had winning teams blanking their respective foes to start their campaigns this season on a high note.
In the boys U15 division, defending champion MP United Silver crushed Shirley’s Football Club last Saturday at the Oleai Sports Complex Field, 15-0. John Taisacan had a hat-trick in the season-opening game, while Ryota Ito, Brian Lee, Jehn Joyner, and Greg Sablan chipped in two goals apiece, while Daniel Lim, Enrico Del Rosario, and Julian Pellegrino contributed one each.
[B]Matansa 6, MP United Blue 0[/B]Matansa also nailed a shutout win over MP United Blue.
After a sluggish game in the first half where Matansa only scored one goal, Sean Perez became unstoppable in the second, making four goals in the final 45 minutes of the match. Perez also recorded Matansa’s first goal, while Jeong Wook Hwang scored the last in the second half.
[B]Paire 12, Tan Holdings FC 0[/B]In the last game in the boys U15, Paire whipped Tan Holdings FC.
Hunter Jewell and Scott Kim teamed up in Paire’s win as they tallied three goals each. Jewell scored in the 28th, 38th, and 43rd minute, while Kim found the back of the net in the 20th minute, 33rd, and 48th. Joel Fruit also helped Paire’s cause with his twin goals, while Joel Jang, John Auther, Won Jun Kim, and Billy Hinson added one apiece.
[B]BOYS U18MP United 4, Matansa 0[/B]
In the second game in the boys U18, Clay McCullough-Stearns converted two goals to lift MP United to an easy victory over Matansa.
McCullough-Stearns made his twin goals in the first half, drilling his first eight minutes after Joyner put MP United in the scoreboard in the 10th minute. McCullough-Stearns had his second goal in the 32nd minute and two minutes later, Jake Lee also eluded his defenders to give MP United’s 4-0 halftime lead.

Paire FC 4, Tan Holdings FC 1[/B]
The other boys U18 game in Week 1 had Paire cruising past Tan Holdings FC.
Four different players scored in Paire’s opening game win. Zhi Lin broke the ice seven minutes into the game and 10 minutes later, it was Juanito Tiamzon’s turn to score. Timothy Tawanpiy made it a 3-0 lead for Paire when he logged his first and only goal in the 51st minute and Jireh Yobech completed the team’s domination of Tan Holdings with his goal in the 69th minute.
Unsa Tanapon recorded the lone goal for Tan Holdings FC when he scored in the 70th minute.

GIRLS U15
Matansa 3, Tan Holdings 0[/B]
Matansa also had a winning debut in the girls U15, whipping Tan Holdings over at Hopwood Junior High School Field.
Maile Aldrich drained two goals, while Patricia Santiago made one. Aldrich took first blood in the 22nd minute and three minutes later Santiago also lit up the scoreboard. It took a while before Matansa got its third goal—which Aldrich posted in the 69th minute.
[B]Paire 1, MP United 1[/B]The second game in the girls U15 between Paire and MP United resulted in a draw.
MP United got a break in the first half, scoring a goal off a Paire miscue and the latter managed to tie the match after drawing a goal from Kayleen Salle in the second half.
