Bridge Capital launches 3rd annual art competition
Bridge Capital, LLC, an international investment banking and asset management company that supports the development of local artists, is inviting young and old artists from Saipan, Tinian, and Rota to take part in the 3rd Annual CNMI Art Competition scheduled next month.
Aimed at promoting and supporting CNMI artists, the annual competition is open to CNMI residents who have been living in the Commonwealth for at least one year.
Artists are required to submit their original work for the competition, which has two categories: 2-dimensional like paintings and photographs and 3-dimensional works of art like sculptures, ceramics, and traditional crafts, among others.
All entries must have a “CNMI theme.” No computer-generated or digitally enhanced submissions will be accepted. Each artist is allowed to submit a maximum of two entries.
There will be a K-12 competition for students from kindergarten through 12th grades, and an open competition for artists 18 years or older.
Each entry must be accompanied by the artist’s name, age, address, and telephone number and submitted to the Bridge Capital office along Micro Beach Road in Garapan.
Deadline for submission is on April 13, with the panel of judges composed of government and business leaders to evaluate the entries from April 16 to 20. Bridge Capital will also purchase selected art pieces at prices to be negotiated with the artists.
Top student entries for K-12 grade levels will receive $100 while the winning student’s teacher will receive $100 credit for school supplies at National Office Supply.
For the open competition, winners will receive $2,500 for Best of Show; $1,500 first prize; $1,000 second prize; and $500 third prize.
Exhibit for competition entries as well as the awarding of prizes will be held during the opening ceremony for the 31st Annual Flame Tree Arts Festival on April 21.
All winning entries and their rights become the property of Bridge Capital.
“We encourage all seasoned and aspiring artists to join the competition,” said Bridge Capital.
