The Department of Public Safety released yesterday an artist’s composite sketch of the man who allegedly raped a woman at knifepoint inside her bedroom in Garapan on Jan. 29.

Police officer Jason Tarkong said that DPS investigators were able to find an artist who developed the suspect’s composite drawing.

“The composite drawing was completed with inputs of the victim and witnesses,” said Tarkong in a statement.

He said DPS hopes that the drawing would help members of the community identify and report any and all sightings, including the suspect’s identity.

Tarkong cautioned the public not to approach the suspect and instead report any sighting to the police immediately.

“Please call DPS at 664-9001 or 911. If you wish to remain anonymous, contact the Crime Stoppers hotline at 234-7272 or visit our website at www.nmicrimestoppers.net,” said Tarkong, who is also the coordinator for Crime Stoppers.

Last Feb. 24, DPS Commissioner Ramon C. Mafnas disclosed that witnesses and the victim have failed so far to identify the suspect from several photos shown them by investigators.

Mafnas said that DPS continues in its effort to identify the suspect.

“Several lineups were shown to the victim and witnesses with negative results,” he said.

Mafnas, however, disclosed that investigators have identified one additional witness.

The suspect reportedly beat up and raped the victim, described as a 25-year-old Asian, inside her bedroom in western Garapan on the morning of Jan. 29

The suspect also tried to kidnap the victim by attempting to take her with him to his car at knifepoint but she managed to escape by yelling for help.

The suspect was described as in his late teens to early 20s, brown complexioned, very short hair, about 5’5” to 5’8” tall, and weighing 150 to 170 lbs.

The victim sustained unspecified injuries.

Police said the suspect fled the scene in an older model yellowish gold Hyundai Accent four-door sedan.
