Three minors were injured after being struck by vehicles in separate incidents while crossing Middle Road in As Mahetog and Garapan on Wednesday.

Police officer Jason Tarkong confirmed that three children were injured in the two accidents, including a student who had just gotten down from a school bus near the road going to the Saipan Zoo.

Tarkong said he will be preparing a press release about the incidents.

Saipan Tribune learned that, in the As Mahetog accident, the legs of an 11-year-old boy were fractured. He was taken to the Commonwealth Health Center.

The boy was among the passengers of a Public School System bus that had just come from Tanapag. As the bus stopped across a bus stop on a road leading to the Saipan Zoo, students began crossing Middle Road. A car struck the boy, a fifth grade student.

It was not clear whether the vehicle was going toward Tanapag or to the Puerto Rico area.

The bus stop is located along a curve in the road.

In the second accident, two children sustained minor injuries when a vehicle hit them as they were crossing Middle Road near the museum in Garapan. No other details were available as of press time yesterday.
