CNMI roster out for games vs Japanese teams

Twenty-five individuals are listed in the group of CNMI players that will challenge three visiting Japanese teams in a series of exhibition games, starting tomorrow night at the Oleai Sports Complex Field.

The roster includes Peter Loken, Arkie Reusora, Dale Roberts, Evan Hunsberger, Trey Dunn, Eric Cooke, Adam Walsh, Ruselle Zapanta, Brad Ruszala, Dan Wollak, Dan Westphal (off-island), Chris Nelson, Devin Atalig (injured), Don Cabrera, Daniel Agulto, Raphael Zapanta, Jehn Joyner, Dakota Hall, Kenneth Domingo, Brian Lee, Enrico del Rosario, Peter Houk (off-island), Daniel Stafford (off-island), Steve McKagan, and Johann Noetzel. These strikers are a mix of CNMI Men’s National Team members and players from the men’s, U15, and U18 leagues.

The group will first play against the Japan Soccer College, beginning at 6:30pm. The starters for tomorrow night’s match will be determined after today’s practice. The CNMI versus Japan Soccer College exhibition game will run 15 minutes after the visitors conclude a one-hour clinic for youth players. The Japan Soccer College’s clinic will run from 5:15pm to 6:15pm, also at the Oleai pitch, with the event open to U8, U10, and U12 players.

Japan Soccer College is a soccer school based in Niigata. It offers courses for players, coaches, officials, and individuals who want to engage in soccer business. The school has coaches and instructors who are playing for pro team Niigata Alibrex, while its students are given chances to compete in the Singapore Professional League.

After the game against Japan Soccer College, three more exhibition matches will be played at the Oleai pitch.

On Feb. 28, the Commonwealth bets will collide against the junior team of Ehime University (Shikoku, Japan) starting at 6pm. Ehime listed 24 players for its junior team and members are in the 18 to 21 age group. The junior team will also duel the Saipan All-Stars in another exhibition game on March 1 at 6pm. Then on March 6, it will be the turn of Ehime’s senior squad to square off against the CNMI players with the game also scheduled at 6pm. The visitors’ senior team is composed of 14 players in the 22-and-above age group.

Before its three exhibition matches, Ehime players and coaches will first conduct a clinic for U6 to U12 strikers on Feb. 29, from 4:30pm to 5:30pm at the Oleai pitch.
