GCDC-CWA U17 girls caging opens tonight
The Garapan Community Development Center will be hosting a girls basketball league open to female players up to 17 years old starting tonight at the Garapan Basketball Court.
Four teams are already confirmed and slots are still available; there is no entrance fee to participate.
Friday’s action starts at 5:30pm with the Lady Barracudas taking on the Lady Manta Rays, followed by the Lady Sharks against Lady Dolphins at 6:30pm. The other matchups are yet to be determined.
Originally slated as a two-round tournament, organizers decided to extend the league through early May as a way to celebrate the GCDC’s first anniversary.
The purpose of the five-on-five full court event is to promote the overall development of young female players.
The event serves as good practice for a number of up and coming female players that very well be representing the CNMI in the highly-anticipated Micronesian Basketball Tournament, which will be hosted on Saipan in June this year.
Trophies will be awarded to Top 2 place finishers.
The timely presence of all teams are requested as this Friday’s opening matchups will be randomly determined.
To register or for more information, stop by the GCDC office located behind Garapan Basketball Court or call 233-8978.
