Bring bike and travel to Tinian on a boat

The big Tinian Pika Festival is this weekend and the Tinian Mayor’s Office prepared great bike rides on Saturday, Feb 18.
Starting about 8:30am upon arrival on Tinian, there will be a mountain bike ride and a road bike course for those that prefer tires on pavement. Short or long versions can tailor your ride to your own needs, conditioning level, and enjoyment. Other impromptu rides will be available too. But you don’t need a bike to join and can enjoy the boat ride and Tinian festivities with or without one.
Both Saturday and Sunday, the boat leaves Saipan at 6am and returns from Tinian at 1pm. Meet at the Outer Cove Marina, Stars and Stripes dock space early enough to board and pack your bike if bringing one. Not later than 5:30am is highly recommended as the boat leaves promptly at 6am and all bikes need to be secured before then. Bring a blanket, cardboard, or other padding for your bike and a few bungee cords or some tie down rope.
The cost for this unique opportunity to enjoy Tinian, biking, the Pika Festival, and a romantic boat ride on this Valentine’s Day week is only $49 round trip with those under 4 years old free. Advance payments are requested by noon on Friday. Bring payments to either Paul at 236-2976 or on the 5th floor of the Horiguchi Building or to Bruce by calling 287-0687.
For those wanting to stay over Saturday night and return at 1pm Sunday there are several Tinian hotels with double room specials: Tinian Dynasty at $77 including tax and offers free pick up (328-2233), Fleming Hotel at $66 (433-3233/3232), Lorilynn’s Hotel at $45 (433-3256), and Main Street Hotel at $38.50. The Tinian Mayor’s Office also set aside a conveniently located beach for free camping.
