Two more companies have each offered $5,000 cash rewards for any information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for the death of Emerita “Emie” R. Romero, whose body was found dead at the abandoned La Fiesta Mall in San Roque last Feb. 7.

The first company wants to remain anonymous and is represented by attorney Michael W. Dotts of the O’Connor Berman Dotts & Banes, a general practice law firm at the Marianas Business Plaza in Susupe.

“[What happened to Romero] is very upsetting for everybody in the community and so one of our clients wants to add on an extra $5,000 and wants to remain anonymous,” Dotts told Saipan Tribune in a phone interview.

Dotts added that any claims for this reward should be directed to him.

Another company, AC Pacific, LLC, which does business as Star Sands Plaza, also offered a $5,000 reward not just for the arrest and conviction of those responsible for Romero’s death but also for that of the 25-year-old Asian woman who was beaten and raped at knifepoint last Jan. 29.

“We call on other CNMI businesses and community leaders to join with us in prompting witnesses to share any relevant information that they may have,” AC Pacific, LLC said in a statement.

The latest cash offerings bring to $22,000 the reward money for any tips or information that will lead to the arrest and conviction of Romero’s killer.

Last Wednesday, Bridge Capital, LLC and Pacific Amusement Inc. and Pacific Amusement Inc. each offered $5,000 reward on top of the $1,000 that Crime Stoppers will provide for any information leading to an arrest.

The next day, 3S Saipan Security Service and Saipan City Taxi Association offered another $1,000 reward.

Romero, 37, a Godfather’s bartender, was reportedly last seen about 3am on Sunday boarding a green or blue tinted sedan in the parking lot of Call-A-Ride Saipan in front of Musung Building on Chichirica Avenue corner Kadena Di Amor St. in Garapan.

Family and friends are mourning Romero’s death by praying the rosary at the Kristo Rai Church, the Commonwealth Health Center Chapel, and Romero’s residence in Garapan.

Anyone with information may call Crime Stoppers hotline at 234-7272 or visit their website at www.nmicrimestoppers.com.
