Sources: No sign Romero was raped
There were no signs that Emerita “Emie” Relata Romero, the 37-year-old bartender who was found dead at the abandoned La Fiesta Mall in San Roque Tuesday afternoon, was raped, according to sources at the Department of Public Safety.
Police sources and a family member disclosed that the victim’s clothes and underwear were still intact when FBI agents found her body at the northernmost part of La Fiesta. The sources refused to elaborate.
DPS has yet to release the results of the autopsy conducted by Guam chief medical examiner Aurelio A. Espinola to determine the victim’s cause of death. Espinola performed the autopsy at the Commonwealth Health Center’s morgue Tuesday night until Wednesday midnight.
DPS has classified the case as a homicide. DPS has not released any information since the body was found Tuesday afternoon.
Romero’s sister, Estrellita “Lhet” Relata, told Saipan Tribune yesterday that they are planning to bring her remains to Bulacan, the Philippines, early next week.
Relata said they are still waiting for the release papers from authorities before they can bring the body to the Philippines.
Relata and her brother Eduardo Relata will also be going to the Philippines for Romero’s burial.
Romero’s husband and two daughters—ages 17 and 8—are currently in the Philippines.
Relata said that the FBI and DPS have assured them that they will work hard to arrest the suspect.
She thanked the authorities, the management of Godfather’s Bar, friends, and relatives for offering prayers and providing them assistance.
The family, relatives, and friends, started holding nightly rosaries at Romero’s residence Thursday at 7pm.
Romero was last seen alive on Sunday around 3am boarding a green or blue tinted sedan in the parking lot of Call-A-Ride Saipan on Chichirica Avenue corner Kadena Di Amor St. in Garapan.
