JR Gechig and Charnessa Lizama ruled the NMIVA grass tournament after beating Tyce Mister and Toni Yamada in the finals, 21-18, while Butch Sublemente and Mieko Carey led the winners in the SDA fundraiser at Paupau Beach.

Over in San Antonio, the pre-Tagaman course swim drew 15 swimmers with Jeff El-Hajj and Florence Antonio prevailing in the long and short races, respectively.

In Koblerville, five members of the Hanwha Eagles conducted a youth baseball clinic to a group of about 40 fifth and sixth graders from the Umangs.

Meanwhile, other on-going competitions on Saipan continued last week.

The Marianas Interscholastic Sports Organization had its girls soccer, boys basketball, and girls volleyball games; the MDX league played the last matches in the regular season; and the Rocball league had its second round tiffs.
