Butch Sublemente won another race, bringing his total to four this month alone.

The veteran triathlete reigned supreme in the open division of the MTB championship course of last Saturday’s 1st Annual San Vicente Church Bike Race. Sublemente, who placed first in the Enticer 1, pre-XTERRA Trail Run, and Seventh Day Adventist MTB race, timed in at 43:38 in last weekend’s event to beat Lewie Tenorio (44:22) and Bob Ferrer (45:16).

The MTB championship course started and ended at San Vicente Church with bikers passing through the backside of the airport, Hawaiian Rock Quarry, Naftan trail, Obyan Beach road, Naftan road (right turn), airport runway road, Naftan road, Flame Tree and airport roads, Chalan Tun Herman Pan, and Isa Drive, before returning to the church.

The weekend fundraiser also had races in seven other divisions.

In the MTB championship course’ 40-and-above division, Noel Altamirano clocked in at 47:29, just 23 seconds ahead of runner-up Ricky Melchor (47:52). John Arceo rounded out the Top 3 with a time of 50:39.

In the 40-and-under category, Ricardo Antonio submitted 52:15 to prevail over Bhoei Hernandez (1:04:38). Erico Castro still made it to the Top 3 despite a flat tire, as he clocked in at 1:10:47.

In the women’s division, Susan Marchitti completed the MTB championship course in 1:00:19 to win the top prize, while Joan Salazar joined the MTB sports course and finished the race in 35:55.

The men’s MTB sports course had Ronald Lanuza as the top finisher, as he checked in at 27:42. Lanuza and company pedaled through Dandan road, back side of the airport and then straight to airport runway road, Naftan road, Flame Tree and airport roads, Chalan Tun Herman Pan, and Isa Drive before returning to San Vicente. Joining him in the Top 3 were Bernard Laborce (27:43) and Ricky Suba (28:07).

Rounding out the top finishers in last Saturday’s fundraiser were men’s road champion Nap Dizon and women’s division co-winners Esther Ada, Juanita Fajardo, Rima Yamagishi, and Sheryl Camacho. The female quartet crossed the finish line together at the 57:17 mark, while Dizon posted 35:50, just seven seconds earlier than runner-up Aldrin Sta. Ana. Rene Calage timed in at 37:25 to place third.

Bikers entered in the road race category went to the airport road, Coral Ocean Point and Pacific Islands Club. From PIC, they turned right Mobil back up to the airport road, Isa Drive, and then to San Vicente Church.

More than 80 bikers joined the Mt. Tapochau Bike Club-organized vent.
