Only one team remained unscathed in the second round of the 2011 Rocball Fall League after seven games were completed last week at the Marianas High School Gymnasium.

Roc It holds an undefeated 2-0 record in the six-team field to boost its chances in the semifinals. It leads against Aim Low, which holds a 2-1 record, while Give-A-Hoot and the Teachers share the third spot after owning similar 1-1 slates. Just-Do-It is at fourth with a 1-2 card, while Alpha Q is at the bottom of the team standings with a 0-2 card.

Roc It notched its first win in the second round against Alpha Q, 41-27. Roc It prevailed in all three sets for the juiced-out victory. It took the first set by six points, 14-8, had a winning margin of five in the second, 13-8, and then eked out a three-point triumph in the third, 14-11.

Against Alpha Q, Roc It, which gained its second win over Just-Do-It, collected eight aces, three kees, and one goal for 23 heavy points. Alpha Q only had 16 heavy points off one ace, four kees, and one xunk.

The Alpha Q-Roc It tiff was the second game played in the opening of the second round. The Teachers and Aim low collided in the first game at the start of the second round with the latter juicing out the former with a come-from-behind win. The Teachers swept the first two sets, 12-11, 13-9. Losing the first two sets and behind by five, 20-25, Aim Low must either win the third set by any margin to force overtime or prevail by six points to steal the win.

J.R. Gechig and Y.J. Nakayama went on to grab the win for Aim Low as the latter canned two goals and the former added one in the team’s 18-7 triumph in the deciding third set. The final score after the regulation was 38-32.

Meanwhile, three players managed to earn “Master” title after scoring at least once in Rocball’s seven different scoring categories. Just-Do-It’s Mathew Lisua and Wilton Laniyo and Alpha Q’s Larry Singa have all nailed volley, rally, ace, xunk, jam, kee, and goal points.

The second round of the league continues this week with eight more games and once completed, only the Top 4 teams after the round-robin play will advance to the semifinals. The semis will be a best-of-three affair with the No. 1 team challenging the No. 4 squad and the No. 2 and 3 teams colliding in the other Final Four pairing.
