In honor of National Nutrition Month in March, the Public School System Food and Nutrition Services is sponsoring the 2nd Annual Student Healthy Recipe Contest.

This year’s theme is “Get Your Plate In Shape” and will focus on the healthy ChooseMyPlate.gov guidelines that replaced the Food Guide Pyramid. Recipes will feature local produce, and will be judged at a cook-off in late March.

Public and private schools (K-12) that would to like participate are encouraged to contact PSS nutritionist Dianne Esplin, RD, at dianne.esplin@cnmipss.org for complete rules.

The deadline for schools to submit their intent to participate is Monday, Jan. 23, at 4:30pm. Students who are interested should contact their principal. (PR)
